It is caused both by fundamental aspects and by their possible application in medicine, biology, ecology, and pharmacology.
At IEE RAS for last twenty years, the investigations both electrophysical parameters of PED and physical, chemical, and biological properties of the water treated by PED were carried out. It was established and confirmed that PED of 0.2−27 (is duration at a current 30-1200 A and current rate 106-109 A/s have temperature of oxygen - hydrogen plasma in their channel ∼ 104 K; PED are accompanied by UV irradiation with wave length of 200 − 300 nm; at early stage of the discharge the shock waves with a speed up to ∼ 5000 m/s are generated; at UV irradiation the photolysis reaction, i.e. generation of H2O2, OH radicals, O, O3 and other chemically active substances takes place. All factors above destroy wide range of pathogen microbes, including spores of microscopic fungi, which are steadiest against adverse surrounding conditions.
For the first time it was found that the prolonged microbic resistance of water (PMRW) treated by PED is caused by toxic ions and nanostructures of electrode metal. It was shown that the surface electric charge of the nanostructures plays essential role in PMRW too.
Quantitative relations between: bactericidal action of water and mass concentration of nanoparticles in dependence on input electric energy and metal of electrodes; properties of nanoparticles as a function of PED duration and other initial parameters had been established.
It is supposed to carry out further investigations of nanostructures water dispersions interaction with biological objects including tumoral tissues. %8 2010-04-20
