Measurements were performed in a 20 × 40-mm channel with homogeneous Plexiglas spheres 10 mm in diameter. The Reynolds number range was from about 20 to 4900. The temperature of the flow was measured with a thermocouple probe containing a hot junction of about 5 mm. Temperature measurements were taken at varying distances from the heating source and covered the near-wall region including a viscous sublayer. The results of the study of the temperature field and its statistical characteristics in water are presented. These distributions are shown to be essentially different from those known so far. At high Re numbers, the structure of the temperature field evolves slightly over the flow length %8 1998-12-01
