T1 Peculiarities of the Distribution of Β-carotene in the Organism of Lymnaea stagnalis under the Influence of the Ions of Heavy Metals JF Hydrobiological Journal JO HYD YR 2016 FD 2016-10-06 VO 52 IS 5 SP 63 OP 72 K1 freshwater mollusks K1 B-carotene K1 metabolic adaptation, ions of heavy metals AB The paper is dealt with the study of the influence of the ions of heavy metals (Cd2+, Zn2+, Cr3+, Cr2O72-, Mn2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Pb2+) on the content of Β-carotene in the haemolymph, hepatopancreas, mantle, and leg of Lymnaea stagnalis. The studied concentration of the ions of heavy metals accounted for 0.5 of their limiting permissible concentration. Relationship was established between the content of the studied pigment and duration of exposure (2, 7, 14, and 21 days). It has been shown that in the organism of L. stagnalis the content of Β-carotene depends on the type of tissues or organs. It has been found that in the organs and tissues of L. stagnalis the influence of the studied ions on the content of Β-carotene is diversified. On the one hand, they are toxic, whereas, on the other hand, they are involved in the processes of regulation.
