Recently introduced by Douglas, Kim, and Lim, (Douglas, J., Kim, S., and Lim, H., Contemp. Math. 329:99-104, 2003), the technique is applied to reduce splitting errors. Accuracy and stability analysis showed that the developed scheme allows us to choose large time steps and it is more accurate when compared to the standard splitting method. The results of numerical experiments confirmed that the presented scheme has almost the same computational efficiency as the basic stabilizing correction method and continues to be accurate and stable for time steps up to 1 hr, when the primitive method fails. %8 2006-09-27
