Краткое описание

We investigated the activities of NO-synthases, lipoperoxidation processes, and antioxidant defense enzymes in the muscular layers of the stomach and large intestine. Concentration of L-arginine in the blood plasma was monitored under two-week activation of 5-HT4 receptors by mosapride in streptozotocin-induced diabetes mellitus. It has been shown that diabetes mellitus is accompanied by an increase in the activity of inducible NO-synthase (iNOS), superoxide dismutase (SOD), nitrite-anion content, and production of thiobarbituric acid (TBA) in the muscular layers of stomach and large intestine, whereas the motorevacuation function of the stomach and large intestine decreases. In contrast, an activation of 5-HT4 receptors by mosapride in experimental diabetes mellitus results in a decrease in the activity of inducible NO-synthase, the lipoperoxidation processes, nitrite anion content and TBA products in muscular layers of stomach and large intestine, while the motor evacuation function of the stomach and large intestine increases without affecting the blood sugar level.
