Краткое описание

The effects of fullerene C60 (FC60) on the levels of free radical and destructive processes in experimental adjuvant arthritis (AA) were studied in rats. Protective effect of FC60 during AA was noted through the reduction of malonidyaldehide concentration increment in the liver (13.44 ± 0.83%) and in the kidneys (18.86 ± 1.36%), an increase in the activities of antioxidant enzyme superoxidedismutase in the liver (15.96 ± 0.38 µmol/kg·s) and kidneys (5.36 ± 0.27 µmol/kg·s), and catalase in the kidneys (9.56 ± 0.78 µmol/kg·s) and the heart (2.26 ± 0.41 µmol/kg·s) in comparison to the control group (43.83 ± 5.69%; 54.55 ± 6.18%; (11.68 ± 0.52) µmol/kg·s; (3.43 ± 0.47) µmol/kg·s; (4.77 ± 0.5) µmol/kg·s; (0.98 ± 0.12) µmol/kg·s, respectively). Protective effect of FC60 in AA was directed on the weakening of destructive processes in the connective tissue as evidenced by the reduction of the total level collagenolitic activity in the cartilage (10.05 ± 0.06 µmol/g/min) and bone (11.21 ± 0.04 µmol/g/min) tissues, free hydroxyproline contents (1.54 ± 0.04 µg/ml) and alkaline phosphatase activity (1.24 ± 0.14 µmol/l·sec) in comparison to control group (11.91 ± 0.49 µmol/g/min; (13.19 ± 0.15) µmol/g/min; (2.25 ± 0.07) µg/ml; (2.19 ± 0.24) µmol/l·s, respectively). Taken together, these results evaluate prospects of future investigations of FC60 − induced effects in rheumatoid arthritis as a feasible therapeutic agent.
