Краткое описание
We studied the effects of pharmacological doses of melatonin (5 mg / kg) introduced in springtime during 28 days on parameters of bone remodeling in 3-month old male rats with high and low levels of energy metabolism. Decreased activity of osteoblasts and increased osteoclast activity, independent from intensity of energy metabolism, have been shown, as well as increased concentration of glycosaminoglycans and free amino acids, testifying to the inhibition of bone tissue physiological remodeling. The latter is not beneficial in maintaining integrity of the bone organic matrix and fixing the inorganic component of the connective tissue, namely hydroxyapatite crystals.
