Краткое описание

The coupled Eulerian−Eulerian multiphase flow method and wall heat flux partitioning model are popularly used to simulate subcooled flow boiling. Most of the studies performed in this area use either commercial code software or in-house codes. The limited access to the background models in the former, the unavailability of the latter to the general public, and finally the considerable empiricism inherent in this model, make general studies of the phenomenon not viable. Hence, there is a need to develop open source codes for studying the phenomenon of subcooled flow boiling and departure from nucleate boiling−like crisis events. This paper presents a review of subcooled flow boiling and two-phase flow studies performed using OpenFOAM, probably one of the most popular open source codes available today. It also highlights the most important modeling aspects of the boiling and twophase flow phenomena that need attention for future code development using this platform.
