VISUALIZATION OF THERMAL PLUMES IN A PARTIALLY DIVIDED VESSEL BY LIQUID CRYSTAL SUSPENSION

This article describes the flow and temperature visualization in a partially divided rectangular vessel by thermosensitive liquid crystal suspension. Partitions were set vertically on the bottom heated plate and from the upper surface. Scattered light from the liquid crystal suspension was transformed into temperature by using the regression equation of relative brightness (r, g, b). Partitions in a vessel control the behavior of thermal plumes from the heated plate. The effects of partitions on the rising velocity and the frequency of thermal plume generation were examined. In addition, it is believed that the thermal diffusion is enhanced by changing the material of the partitions.
