Oscillating heat transfer performances of piston cooling galleries with circle, oval, and water drop-shaped cross sections are investigated by using a numerical simulation method. The results show that the heat transfer performance of the water drop-shaped cooling gallery is the best. The surface heat transfer performance of the water drop-shaped cooling gallery increases with increase of the crankshaft speed and the stroke of the engine piston. The optional cooling oil volume fraction is 20–50%. The crankshaft speed is proved to be the primary factor that impacts the heat transfer performance.
