Краткое описание

The effect of copper, nickel and zinc on growth, photosynthesis and secondary metabolites’ production by the bloom-forming cyanobacteria Microcystis aeruginosa, Oscillatoria agardhii, Anabaena variabilis and Aphanizomenon flos-aquae was investigated. At concentration range 10−7−10−5 mole/l heavy metals can eliminate some Cyanobacteria, inhibit or stimulate growth of others. They are able to promote excretion of various metabolites, including proteins, extracellular polysaccharides, toxins and odors. Elevated excretion of exometabolites negatively effects water quality in the aquatic ecosystems.
