Краткое описание

In 2006–2010 water quality of the Selenga River, including its delta and main tributaries, located within the territory of Russian Federation was assessed and analyzed in terms of sanitary and microbiological indices. Sanitary indicator microorganisms occurred along the whole length of the river, especially in summertime. Analysis of their composition and quantitative indices made it possible to conclude that water quality in the river is significantly deteriorated. In summertime, the water of the Selenga River does not correspond to the requirements of the Russian Federal Standard of Water Quality. It can not be recommended as a source of drinking and household water supply, and also for recreation.
