Краткое описание

Medical physicists and biomedical engineers have many rights that must be acknowledged and protected, and many responsibilities that must be recognized and fulfilled by all members of the professions. The rights are encompassed by the Bill of Rights for Scientists and Engineers recently adopted by the International Organization of Medical Physics and the International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineers. The responsibilities are codified in various codes and rules of ethics, and include the ethics of research as an important subset of the ethical responsibilities of engineers and physicists. The ethics of research demands accountability of engineers and physicists to their colleagues, profession, funding sources, regulatory agencies, and society. Current controversies such as conflict of interest, scientific misconduct, and censorship of publications undermine accountability and harm the credibility of physicists and engineers.
