THE ROLE OF FULLERENE SOOT IN THE STRUCTURE FORMATION OF MAO COATINGS

For the first time, fullerene wares [fullerene-containing soot (FCS) and cathode deposit (CD)] and extracted fullerene soot (EFS) were applied in the process of microarc oxidation (MAO). This has become possible due to the development of the physical and chemical principles of ensuring the sedimentation stability of carbon nanomaterial (CNM) introduced into electrolytes. The FCS, CD, and EFS additives are found to greatly influence the structure of ceramic oxide coatings (CC) and their properties. It is shown that in comparison with the MAO of the D16 alloy in a basic electrolyte the coating thickness increased by a factor of 1.5 in modified solutions and the content of α -Al2O3 (corundum) in its layers, almost sevenfold. This leads to an almost threefold increase in the microhardness and durability of the coating with a simultaneous 4−5-times decrease in the friction coefficient.
