Abstract

In this article we will give an approximate solution for the problem of laminar forced convection in annular ducts for Newtonian fluids and uniform heat flux at the walls.
The solution of the problem is obtained by a series expansion about the complete eigenfunctions system of a Sturm-Liouville problem. The eigenfunctions and the eigenvalues of this Sturm-Liouville problem are obtained by Galerkin's method. The system of trial functions is based on the Bessel functions of first and second kind and of order zero and order one.
