ABSTRACT
Natural convection in a fluid-saturated porous medium in rectangular enclosures heated from below and cooled from above is studied numerically using the heatfunction formulation approach. The effect of the flow governing parameter including the Rayleigh number in the range 40 to 350 was studied by solving the governing equations using the finite difference method. Results are presented in the form of streamlines, isotherms and heatlines. Results show that heatlines are strongly influenced by the flow circulation. The heatlines also make the visualization of the flow trajectory easy and also help to explain the pattern of heat flow in the Darcy-Bénard configuration.
