Abstract

Based on the Euler/ Lagrange approach for turbulent reacting gas-particle flows with combusting pulverized coal particles, a comprehensive model for pulverized coal combustion was developed by incorporating a model of pulverized coal devolatilization and char combustion, a model of NOx formation and a model of ash deposition. Applicability of a comprehensive model was validated by comparing its predictions with the experimental data of a laboratory-scale pulverized-coal combustion burner. The model was applied for the simulation of the coal-fired boiler of the Tom-Ussinskaja GRES.
