The present work is a main part of a research aiming to represents a suitable air-conditioning design for applications of theatres or auditoriums. This study is developed numerically to investigate the air flow pattern, temperature and relative humidity distributions in large air-conditioned and ventilated auditorium with addition of carbon dioxide dispersion inside it to ensure a healthy environment, where large numbers of guests are seated. The effectiveness of any air conditioning system is commonly determined by the successful of satisfying of human thermal comfort conditions and attaining air pollutants at a prescribed level.
The present model is numerically investigated by using FLUENT (Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) program). Numerical computations were carried out with more than 600,000 tetrahedral three dimensional control volumes. Grid nodes were densely located in the vicinity of the heat sources and accounted for sensible and latent heat load from individual humans. Comparisons are shown between numerical predicted relative humidity and Carbon Dioxide concentrations and the corresponding ASHRAE Standard values. The paper ends with brief discussion and conclusion.
