ABSTRACT
The main aim of the study presented in this paper is to develop a relatively simple correlation by dimensional analysis method which could predict the initial bubble growth rates during transient boiling of water. An expression of the form R = C(Dt)n with n = A exp(-Bt) is suggested for this purpose and A,B,C,D are defined in terms of some known physical properties of boiling liquid and of its vapour and some temperature boundary conditions related to the system. It is expected that such an easily handled correlation will be useful particularly in reactor thermal design and in reactor safety analyses.
