Theoretical and experimental studies of the evolution of pressure waves in a vapour-liquid flow at the point of saturation are described. Also under study is the behaviour of a solitary vapour bubble in compression and rarefaction waves of various profile. The solution of this problem is associated with the problem of depressurization of the tubes at atomic electric stations.
