ABSTRACT
Efficient heat removal is a crucial prerequisite for the reliable and long-term operation of modern electronic devices, and much effort has been invested into the improvement of their cooling and the control of heat transfer. The LES study here reported aims at investigating the impingement cooling of wall-mounted cubes in a cross-flow, mimicking electronic components. The focus of the paper is the identification of dominant vortical structures, their wall signature and role in the local wall heat transfer.
