ABSTRACT
This paper presents steady-state RANS calculations applied to the flow analysis of a centrifugal compressor stage. One goal of the paper is to quantitatively investigate the integral values of secondary flux in the impeller exit plane and the field of vorticity in dependence of a) the turbulence modelling (k-ε, RNG model) and b) in dependence on the Reynolds-number and the Rossby-number. Data of the secondary flux fraction and the secondary area fraction at the impeller exit are post-processed from 3-D viscous calculations. Results of secondary flux and seondary vorticity are compared to empirical correlations and numerical results found in literature.
