ABSTRACT

We describe a new implementation of a load system for hot-water storage tanks domestic thermal solar systems. The main emphasis is on the minimization of turbulence near the inlets for the experiments on the dynamic behavior of the fluid have been conducted in a down-scaled experimental set-up. With aim to minimize and control thermal losses that appear in usual tanks. An optimized inlet shape improves the inflow conditions of the heated water. Flow structures are visualized by colored ink or Particle Image Velocimetry. This methods confirm a stable thermal stratification. Experimental results were in good agreement with simulations.
