Flow and Heat Transfer in Rotating-Disc SystemsDOI: 10.1615/ICHMT.1994.IntSympHetatTransTurb.140 J. M. Owen AbstractThis paper provides a review of recent research in flow and heat transfer in rotating-disc systems representative of those found in gas-turbine engines. The free-disc case, rotor-stator systems, rotating cavities and contra-rotating discs are considered. In particular, there has been a sharp increase in the amount of work conducted on the "ingress problem", and recent developments in computational fluid dynamics show great potential for the prediction of many important classes of rotating flows. |
