Heat Transfer and Flow Friction Characteristics of Louvred Heat Exchanger Surfaces

Abstract

This paper discusses the place of louvred surfaces in compact heat exchangers and presents heat transfer and flow friction data for eight louvred surfaces. The effect of the size of the louvre in the air flow direction is shown and used to obtain some correlation of the results. The correlation plots are compared with theoretical expressions for laminar boundary layers on flat plates and with previously published data on strip fins.
