RESUMO

A numerical investigation of laminar mixed convection within a two dimensional, horizontal annulus filled with an anisotropic porous medium has been carried out. Anisotropy in permeability is considered with principal axes oriented at a constant angle with respect to vertical direction. The inner and outer boundaries of the annulus are held at different uniform temperature with the inner one being warmer. The outer cylinder is rotating in the counter clockwise direction to introduce the forced convection effect. The general model DBF (Darcy, Brinckman, Forchheimer) including viscous, parietal and inertial effects has been adopted for the porous matrix. The set of equations, governing the physical situation, is translated in algebraic equations system by use of the control volume method. The SIMPLER algorithm has been adopted for the sequence of resolution stages. The effect of dimensionless parameters including the Darcy number (Da), the Rayleigh number (Ra), the Reynolds number, the Prandtl number (Pr) as well as the permeability ratio K* on the characteristics of fluid flow (streamlines) and heat transfer (Average Nusselt number) are considered in the present study.
