RESUMO

Particle Image Velocimetry estimates the velocity field measuring the displacement of small dispersed particles between two images separated by a small time interval. Nonetheless real particles, accounting for their finite inertia, could be unfit to respond to fast accelerations of the fluid. This effect is crucial when particles cross the flame front, leading to biased velocity estimates. Purpose of this work is to establish a criterion to select appropriate inertial particles in order to obtain accurate measurements of fluid velocity in the context of turbulent premixed combustion.
