T1 COMBUSTION STUDIES OF NITRAMINE CONTAINING ENERGETIC MATERIALS JF International Journal of Energetic Materials and Chemical Propulsion JO IJEMCP YR 2002 FD 2002-01-01 VO 5 IS 1-6 SP 533 OP 545 AB The effect of initial temperature and pressure on the combustion of the nitramine containing explosives PBXN-5 and Composition A-4 has been examined. A measurable sensitivity to burning was determined for the HMX containing PBXN-5 but could not be determined for the RDX containing Composition A-4 due to the high level of sample variability. Burning rates for both explosives are compared to their neat monopropellant counterparts. Closed bomb determination of high pressure burning rates for the two explosive powders was complicated by the lack of sample homogeneity as well as apparent grain deconsolidation.
