T1 THE PREMIXED LAMINAR FLAMES IN THE BORON DUST CLOUDS JF International Journal of Energetic Materials and Chemical Propulsion JO IJEMCP YR 1993 FD 1993-01-01 VO 2 IS 1-6 SP 469 OP 477 AB The use of stabilized Bunsen-type premixed dust flame for the investigation of boron dust clouds combustion has been proposed. The suspensions are formed by crystal micron-size (mean diameter is 6 μm) boron particles. The experiments were conducted with the aid of modified equipment formerly used for an aluminum dust flame investigation [Goroshin, Ageyev et al., 1989]. The Bunsen-type boron dust flame becomes stable on leaving a water-cooled conical nozzle with the help of a circular propane-oxygen flame. Throughout the process, the volume of the fuel mixture through the stabilizer is no more than 10% of the gas-dust flow. Some experiments which had to define the flame speed in boron suspensions in pure oxygen were held with the help of flames propagated in open-ended tubes. Flame speed dependencies on a mass boron concentration, gas mixture composition and initial dust temperature were defined.
