AB Ecological groups of macroinvertebrates occurring in various water bodies of the Kiliya delta of the Danube river were investigated. The quantitative characteristics of animal communities and their biodiversity were studied on the bottom free of vegetation, on the bottom among the thickets of higher aquatic plants, and in the fouling of higher aquatic plants. The structural and functional characteristics of these communities are considered. Saprobiological assessment of water quality was performed using the indicator species of the studied communities.
