The fibers are produced by utilizing high temperature reactions which result in the formation of small glassy particles which deposit on a substrate. The details of the procedure depend on the particular optical fiber manufacturing process employed. Thermal, flow and mass transfer aspects of chemical vapor deposition processes relative to different optical manufacturing processes are emphasized in this work. %8 1998-12-01
