RESUMO

The growth of the microalgal culture Euglena gracilis was studied under the influence of fungicides. To suppress the development of spores or mycelium of pathogenic fungi in the E. gracilis culture we used four preparations of fungicides widely employed in agriculture for the protection of plants against fungal infection. The effect of propineb, mancozeb, benomyl and the mixture of famoxadon and cymoxanyl (1:1) added into the liquid and agarized mineral nutrient media containing glutaminic acid as the exogenic source of carbon were analyzed. It has been shown that contact fungicides, such as propineb and mancozeb at the concentrations under study, killed the microalgal cells without suppressing the growth of fungi. Benomyl, as well as the combined preparation containing famoxadon and cymoxanyl (1:1), inhibited the growth of fungi and did not suppress the cell growth of microalga E. gracilis. Benomyl at the concentration of 60 µg/mL is established to affectively release the E. gracilis culture from mycotic contamination.
