RESUMO

Ethanol was studied for its influence on the morphology of the cells of Dunaliella viridis Teod., the content and synthesis intensity of nucleic acids and proteins, and the excretion rate of proteins and lipids into the culture medium. It has been established that on the 4th, 7th, and 10th day of the culture growth the 3-fold introduction of ethanol at the concentration of 0.3 % ceased the culture growth, and changed the shape and mobility of cells. The DNA content in cells on the 13th day of cultivation was more than 4 times as high, whereas the synthesis rate in this period was considerably lower than in the control variant. The RNA content was slightly higher than in the control, while the protein content was almost 5 times as high. This state of cells was characterized by an increase in the excretion of proteins and lipids (with the exception of triacylglycerides) into the culture medium. The transfer of the culture into the Artari pure medium without ethanol was accompanied by intensification of the culture growth and by normalization of biochemical parameters.
