NONSTATIONARY FLOW OVER THE LIFTING ROTOR FOR REGIMES OF STEEP GLIDING AND VORTEX RING

RESUMO

The aerodynamic characteristics of a lifting rotor were investigated for the regimes of a level flight at µ = 0.01 and for steep gliding with αr ~ 80−85° (where αr is the angle of attack of the rotor) using the computational methods described in V. M. Scheglova, TsAGI Science J., vol. XXXVIII, pp. 57−71, 2007; V. M. Scheglova, TsAGI Science J., vol. XLII, pp. 179−203, 2011. The current work was aimed at the elaboration of a mathematical model, algorithms, and programs of a lifting rotor computation and the investigation of aerodynamics of the lifting rotor for the regimes of hovering and descent, including such limiting regimes as the "vortex ring." A series of calculations for the four-bladed model of a lifting rotor for the determination of vortex wakes and induced velocities from the wakes on the disk and for the determination of average inductive velocities in the wake behind the rotor with the diffusion was done. The examples of the plots construction for the induced velocities are demonstrated. The comparison of values of the time-averaged induced velocities in the wake behind the rotor was done using this computational method.
