GENERALIZED INVERSE AIRFOIL PROBLEM

RESUMO

The problem of airfoil design based on a given pressure distribution and pitching moment at zero lift is solved for the general case of potential flows. The solution is obtained in quadratures for incompressible fluid flow. Algorithms for the solution and numerical technique are developed for compressible flows, including transonic flows. An example of solving the generalized inverse problem in helicopter airfoil design is considered. The practical applicability of the method is verified by computational fluid dynamics Reynolds-averaged Navier−Stokes calculations.
