Spectral and Correlation Characteristics of Velocity and Temperature Fluctuations in a Free-Convection Boundary Layer

RESUMO

The paper presents results of an experimental investigation of a free-convection boundary layer on a heated vertical surface. The behavior of various turbulence scales is investigated on the basis of the analysis of spectral and correlation characteristics of velocity and temperature fluctuations. Distinctive features of redistribution of energy and temperature fluctuations in the interface region of the boundary layer are highlighted. A scenario of the onset and development of transient processes in the boundary layer is suggested.
