Boiling Dynamics of Benzene at Superheats Close to the Limit

RESUMO

An experimental study of heterogeneous boiling dynamics in benzene was performed at a pressure of 8 kPa. The test heater was a platinum wire 100 μm diam. The superheat limit of benzene under the test conditions was 502 K. Superheat before boiling close to superheat limit (498-502 K) were attained by transient heating. In these conditions the velocity of the evaporation front in the benzene was 36−38 m/s. The transversal size of the vapor formation varied according to the low τ0.4. The deviation of the experimental data on the evaporation front velocity from the calculated value is not greater than 20%.
