Cyclic/Pulsating Boiling from Curved Downward Facing Surface

RESUMO

A simple qualitative model for the cyclic/pulsating boiling regime from curved, downward facing surfaces discovered in recent experiments is proposed. The basis of the model consists in simultaneous taking account of nucleate boiling and heat convection under condition of liquid subcooling. Correlations between the boiling regime characteristics and the heat flux are derived and the problem of critical heat flux is discussed. The results obtained are in qualitative agreement with experiment.
