Rate of Bubble Growth at Limiting Superheats of a Stretched Liquid
RESUMO
The process of bubble growth in a superheated stretched liquid was studied experimentally and theoretically. An analytical solution for the rate of bubble growth in the region of negative pressures was obtained with due account of heat transfer on the bubble surface. The rates of vapor bubble growth in ethyl alcohol on a platinum wire at temperatures of 160−170°C and a negative pressure of up to −2.0 MPa were measured experimentally. Theoretical calculations and experimental results have been compared. It is demonstrated that there is not enough time for thermodynamic equilibrium to be established on the boundary of the bubble growing in a superheated stretched liquid.
