Possibility of Use of Phytoplankton Surface Characteristics as Indicators, which Meet EU Water Framework Directive Provisions

RESUMO
Some indicators of phytoplankton, which are developed on the basis of morpho-functional research, were suggested as water quality indicators, which meet provisions the Water Framework Directive. The methods of calculation, "ecological sense", the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed indicators are considered. Their relation with reaction of the structural and functional organization of phytoplankton to changing environmental conditions is analyzed.
