RESUMO
Data on the intensity and rate of oxygen uptake depending on the body mass of endemic Enchytraeidae Mesenchytraeus bungei Michaelsen occurring in Lake Baikal obtained under experimental conditions are discussed in the paper. These results along with literature data for the other species of Oligochaeta were used for obtaining two main equations. The equations of regression describing respiration of aquatic Oligochaeta (Q = 0.097 W0.72) and that of representatives of the family Enchytraeidae (Q = 0.098 W0.86) are given in the standard form. The influence of various factors on the rate and intensity of oxygen uptake in different species of Oligochaeta is also discussed.
