PECULIARITIES OF THE WAVEGUIDE DIELECTRIC RESONATOR WITH RESONANCE SHORT-CIRCUIT PLUNGER
RESUMO
Frequency and Q-factor are referred to basic parameters of the resonator. The drawback of the waveguide dielectric resonator (WDR) is in decreasing of its Q-factor when the short-circuit plunger approaches the dielectric during the frequency tuning procedure. The possibility of increasing the value of eigen Q-factor of the WDR tunable with the resonance short-circuit plunger is investigated in this paper. Negative influence exerted upon the H111-mode characteristics in the investigated 3-cm band resonator is determined and studied. It is demonstrated the means for elimination of the said influence to obtain eigen frequencies and Q-factors of the main mode in WDR compatible with the computed data within the entire range of frequency tuning. The results of investigation extend the possibilities of practical application of this type of resonators.
