A spatially developing two-dimensional mixing layer interacting with an incident compression wave is simulated in order to analyse the mechanisms leading to the shock noise emission. Various upstream forcing modes leading to various characteristics of subsequent travelling two-dimensional coherent structures are tested in order to assess their respective influence on the leading mechanisms of shock leakage and subsequent shock noise properties.
