要約

A Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) database of freely propagating statistically planar turbulent premixed flames with a range of different turbulent Reynolds number Ret, has been used to analyse the statistical behaviour of the curvature term of the Flame surface Density (FSD) transport equation in the context of Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) simulations. The simulation parameters were chosen to represent the thin reaction zones regime combustion and the variation of Ret was brought about by modifying the Karlovitz and the Damköhler numbers independently of each other. The curvature term was decomposed into the components arising from the different components of displacement speed, and their statistical behaviours have been analysed in detail. The effects of Ret on the statistical behaviours of the different components of the curvature term need to be accounted for in the models for the FSD curvature term in the context of RANS simulations.
