要約

RANS computations of a round jet impinging perpendicularly onto a rotating, heated disc have been performed using two different in-house, unstructured, finite-volume computational codes and 5 advanced turbulence models. The Reynolds number Re = 14,500 and the orifice-to-plate distance H/D = 5, where D is the jet-orifice diameter, were chosen to match the experiments of Minagawa and Obi [1]. The four rotation rates documented in the experiments have been computed, i.e. ω = 0, ω = 41.8, ω = 83.8 and ω = 167.8 rad/s. The focus of the computational investigation is twofold, (i) the model performance for a generic case of turbulent jet impinging onto a heated, rotating disc, in comparison with experimental data from Minagawa and Obi [1] and Popiel and Boguslawski [2] and (ii) numerical investigation of the effect of rotation on turbulence and heat transfer.
