PIV MEASUREMENTS OF THE FLOW IN A ROTATING CAVITY WITH A RADIAL INFLOW
要約
This paper presents the measurements of the flow in a rotating cavity with a radial inflow using particle image velocimetry (PIV). At the experimental conditions, the flow structure was found to be unstable and the source region fills the whole cavity. The ensemble-average velocity field in the rotating cavity was discussed in this paper. With the date, the nondimensional core velocity could be acquired and used to estimate the total press loss in a rotating cavity with a radial inflow. At the same time the PIV measurements could provide the spatial distribution of the instantaneous velocity. Experiments were conducted with a rotational Reynolds number of 3.97×105 and a nondimensional mass flow rate of 1.32×104.
