SMOKE MOVEMENT UNDER MICRO-GRAVITY CONDITIONS
要約
Fire development and smoke distribution under terrestrial conditions continues to be an active area of research. The problem has been studied in limited detail for micro-gravity conditions, and with the recent construction of the International Space Station the movement of smoke in an enclosed environment with limited gravity has increased relevance. Previous work related to micro-gravity has concentrated on flame shape and size; material combustion; smoke particle production; and smoke detection. This project uses CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) to examine a simple case of smoke distribution, determining the variation in smoke movement for earth gravity and micro-gravity conditions. Experimental solutions are then obtained for both situations, using a drop tower facility for the micro-gravity cases.
