要約

Effect of nozzle geometry on the characteristics of 3D surface attaching jet was investigated experimentally. Circular, square and rectangular shape of nozzle were used in this study. Reynolds number was varied from 1900 to 9700 in the experiment. A particle image velocimetry (PIV) was used to obtain the mean velocity and turbulent statistics. The nozzle configuration of different shapes affected the reattachment point, recirculation region and Reynolds shear stress distribution. Significant Reynolds number effect on the centerline velocity decay and jet spread was observed only for Re ≤ 4000. Faster velocity decay and jet spread were observed in case of rectangular nozzle with its minor axis along surface-normal direction indicating higher entrainment and better mixing characteristics compared to circular jet.
