要約

In this paper, a counterflow air to air heat exchanger is investigated as to its heat rate and temperature recovery when water vapour condenses, freezes, or sublimates on the heat exchanger surfaces. Experimental results were taken under a wide variety of operating conditions showing that temperature recovery ratio of 50 to 60 percent and heat rates of 100 to 300 w/m2 of heat exchanger surface were measured under temperature differences from 23 to 46.5°C. A theoretical model of the heat exchanger was developed assuming steady, one dimensional flows with uniform properties. This theoretical model predicted heat rates and temperature recoveries within 15 percent of measured values for the case of water vapour condensation.
