AB The annotated list of <i>Rhodophyta</i> (excl. order <i>Ceramiales</i>), subjected to recent taxonomic revisions and nomenclature changes, is presented. It includes 102 species with 125 infraspecies taxa, related to 49 genera, 24 families, and 16 orders. The new combination, <i>Coccotylus truncatus</i> f. <i>ligulatus</i> (C. Agardh) V. Aysel, H. Erdugan, N. Milchakova comb. nov. is proposed. In comparison to monographic reports published from 1975 to 2000, 32 species are new for the Black Sea flora. The richest species diversity of <i>Rhodophyta</i> is recorded along the coast of Turkey (76 species and 98 infraspecies taxa) and the Ukraine (67 species and 81 infraspecies taxa). Factors affecting the distribution of new, mainly warm-water species in the Black Sea basin are discussed.
